What should I expect from my summer camp abroad with Nacel?

The goal of the international summer camps in Europe is to develop the participant's knowledge of the local language in an international context: during the summer camp abroad, participants share various sports or activities with young people from many countries but use a unique language, the local one: French, English, Japanese, Italian or Spanish.
Practicing sports or doing activities together is universal: communication will develop smoothly while training, experiencing, and playing all together.

How many hours will I study foreign languages during my international summer program for high school students?

The French summer camps offer for example 15 hours of French lessons per week in groups of 8 to 15 students. Most language courses would last for 3 to 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Learning the language in the country where is spoken, is more beneficial than studying the language in your home country. The constant immersion and exposure to the language make the progression more significant as studying a few hours of French, Spanish, Japanese, or English every week. Furthermore, by living the language for a few weeks during a language immersion camp abroad in France, Germany Ireland, Italy, Japan, or Spain, you will gain confidence and feel more comfortable expressing yourself in class back home.

A typical day in a teenage language summer course includes:

A summer camp overseas is usually structured as below:

  • Breakfast
  • 3 hours or more devoted to language classes,
  • then group lunches
  • and 2 1/2 hours or more for afternoon field trips, excursions, and guided visits.
  • Dinner
  • Evening activities

It's important to note that different summer camps have varying policies regarding mobile phones. Some allow them to be kept with the children throughout the duration of the camp, while others only permit usage during designated times.

Be sure to inquire about the phone policy of the camp you are interested in. In case of an emergency, we will provide you with at least one emergency phone number to reach your child, and they will also have a way to contact you. Rest assured that we will promptly notify you if any emergency arises.

Going away from home, to a new country, with a different culture and language can be overwhelming for a child and could lead to homesickness.

We want to share with you some tips on how to prepare your kid to go to a summer camp abroad:

  • Let your child participate in the camp selection process. Ask questions and listen to what they say so they feel involved in choosing the right camp for them. This collaborative approach will not only instill a sense of ownership but also prepare them for the exciting adventure ahead.
  • Be supportive and understanding by reviewing the camp’s description with your child. If these conversations foster questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us for answers. If they get nervous, you should remind them that you support them.
  • Before your child leaves, give them a big hug and say goodbye. Make it clear that although you will miss them, you are excited about the wonderful experience they are about to start. Let them know that you are very proud of this step and you will also be busy during that time.

Booking deposits are not refundable for voluntary cancelations.

Cancellation fees differ depending on the program, with a minimum of 350 USD.

Before departure, you will be provided with the contact details for the 24/7 emergency number, which offers English-speaking assistance.

You must enclose a current prescription and bring the medication in its original packaging with the leaflet marked with the child's name.
