Who is this course for?

This artistic program is perfect for anyone between 18 and 99 years old with an interest in Italian and Painting. Do you want to combine your passion for the Italian language with improving your artistic skills then this is the perfect course for you! The course accepts beginners and advanced artists. Italian lessons take place every day in the morning at the language school, while painting lessons take place in the afternoon.

How will I study Italian?

Do you already speak Italian? Students with previous knowledge of Italian can take a written and oral placement test to assess their language skills and determine the most appropriate group for them. If you are an absolute beginner, you will be placed in the Standard Italian course level A1. You will get to work on all aspects of the language, with a special focus on developing your communication skills in speaking and writing. Choose the Italian and Painting course and enjoy a unique experience in the beautiful city of Florence!

  • Lessons: 20 Italian lessons per week,
  • Duration & time: 45 minutes each from Monday to Friday,
  • Class size: 11 - 14 per class
  • Course Material: not included
  • Levels: ​From complete beginner to advanced A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 (according to CEF level scale)

Each level can be completed in four weeks. You can progress to the next level after successfully completing a test.

What will I learn during painting classes?

You are introduced to the technical and theoretical aspects of painting in a variety of media. Studio exercises will be enriched by discussions, critiques, illustrated lectures, museum visits, and analysis of historical and contemporary paintings.

  • Lessons: 8 lessons per week of 45 min each.
  • Duration: 4, 8, 12 week

Please note that courses are held in Italian.

Beginner Level: Beginning students will work with still life, live models, and urban environments. Classes focus on the use of color, value, and composition.

Intermediate Level: Intermediate students will continue to develop the skills acquired in the beginning level and begin to develop their visual language.

Advanced Level: The advanced student is expected to have mastered the technical aspects of painting and will begin to create a body of work that reflects his or her style and ideas.

Italian Language and Painting in Florence : Activities

The school is a great place to start exploring the city on your own or with weekly guided tours. The school offers a full experience. You will learn Italian while seeing art by some of the most important Renaissance artists. You will visit famous places and museums, walk along the Lungarni and over the Ponte Vecchio, drink wine, and eat local food. Learning Italian in Florence is a way to learn about Italian culture, history, and philosophy.

Optional activities and excursions are offered by the school and bookable at the reception. 

Italian Language and Painting in Florence : Accommodation

Homestay 

You can choose to stay with a host family in Florence. This lets you fully experience Italian culture, practice the language in a real-life setting, and have a meaningful experience. Stay with a family, you will feel at home!

All accommodations are personally selected and verified by the school staff and are located near the school, often within walking distance and never more than a 15-minute journey by public transport. Most of our families offer single rooms. Double rooms (for two students traveling together) are only available on request. Homestay accommodation offers half board (breakfast and dinner) or breakfast only. 

Please note that you may not be the only guest in your family. Other guests will not have the same mother tongue as you, to ensure you have the opportunity to practice your Italian.

  • Bathroom: To be shared with host family. A private bathroom is available only on request.
  • WiFi: Free internet access is available in all households

Shared residence

A great option if you value your independence is shared apartments in Florence with other students. This offers you the opportunity to bond with fellow students from all over the world and share cultural experiences. You can choose a single or double room (only available for two students traveling together) in a fully furnished apartment with several bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom to share with other students. Bed linen and towels are provided. All accommodations are personally selected and verified by school staff and are located near the school, often within walking distance and never more than 15-20 minutes by public transport.

  • WiFi: Free internet access is available in all apartments.
