Homestay and School Immersion in Germany : Description

Are you looking for the best Homestay immersion experience in Germany?

The Nacel German homestay immersion in Germany offers teenagers the unique opportunity to experience the everyday life of a host family in Germany, while attending a local high school, like any other student. This immersion program, based in Germany, proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, as it offers the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of German. Language improvement comes from the constant immersion living with a family, as well as the student's interactions with classmates every day.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAM:

  •     Students will have the opportunity to live at a German Homestay, with High School integration, for a duration of 4 to 8 weeks
  •     German host families are carefully selected, based on availability and the student’s interests, in order to look for the best match!
  •     Students will significantly improve their language in our 360 Cultural and Academic experience!
  •     Students will also be able to have a better understanding of the German culture and its educational system.
  •     This program is available during the school year (from February or from August)

  • Homestay and School Immersion in Germany : Accommodation

German host families are volunteers. This means that they are not paid to host the student. They are generally really enthusiastic and offer a warm welcome to the student during his/her homestay program in Germany. They look forward to share not only their language, but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate. We try as much as possible to match a student with a family who share the same interests, so you can’t choose any specific location.

Host families come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). Wherever the student’s host family lives, there will be wonderful things to discover and absorb. Students can be placed anywhere in the country and must accept any location. It is very important for us to match the student with the host family, so this is what will determine the location of the student. Nacel's coordinators select the host families, and are available to answer questions and handle any student/host family concerns during the program.

The new family member is expected to take part in the daily activities of his or her German host family. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the German homestay experience. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursions. The participant comes with its own spending money to cover the costs of activities during the immersion.

Please note that participants cannot choose a specific area in Germany. Nacel reserves the possibility to place the student anywhere in the hosting country.

Homestay and School Immersion in Germany : Testimonials

I can't even begin to explain how wonderful Kristi's experience has been. She had a wonderful host family who really went out of their way to show her their country and culture. She was able to meet most of their extended family, too. She is returning home this evening and she told me yesterday when I spoke to her that although she was so sad to be leaving her host family she is happy to be seeing us again. Thank you for all your help and assistance.” Kristi’s mother

A wonderful host family! It is difficult to find such a family, but a serious organization like yours is able to find it!

“I would like to keep you informed of Théo’s stay in P’s family in Germany. I think it has been the best host family Théo could have, really open-minded and generous as well as very kindly and attentive to him. Thanks once again for this homestay abroad. King regards, Sylvie.

"It was truly organized wonderfully! The staff did their absolute best to help make my stay in Germany phenomenal! I had the most wonderful time in Germany. The German coordinator, Mrs. Jelka B***, truly put thought into which family I would be best suited for. I had the opportunity to consistently speak the language with the family and they helped me learn and progress. I was fortunate enough to have seen more of Germany than I could have ever asked for. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to go to Germany and immerse myself in the life and culture of a German for four weeks with the V****. I had the best four weeks of my life with them. My interest for cultures and languages has dramatically increased and I hope to have the opportunity to travel and immerse myself in the culture and language of other countries even more in the future. Thank you so much!"

I traveled to Germany to improve the language. This experience helped me to mature and most importantly to know a new culture and make friends that I hope will be for all my life. The early days were a bit hard but the welcome from my host family was so good it helped me to adapt quickly. At school my mates were always special and we even could agree to go to school by bike. I sincerely hope someday to return.

I would like to thank you for your arrangements, we are all very happy with your services and especially with the host family. Veronika enjoys her stay in Cologne very much, she likes her host brothers and parents.  They travelled together to Holland, she met the relatives of the family, she was totally involved in the live of the family. It helped her to get to know the culture of Germany and to improve her language skills.  She also likes her school and schoolmates. She enjoys her basketball trainings. She could make new friends, too. During her stay she had new experiences, she become more mature and gained a new vision of life. I am totally happy she made this program and would do it again. I am already thinking about applying with my son, too.

Homestay and School Immersion in Germany : FAQ

When you choose one-to-one language lessons at the teacher's home, we carefully select a teacher and their family based on your requirements and provide you with a complete profile. If you feel that the teacher offered or the town are not the right fit for you, we explore alternative options and try our best to accommodate your needs.

When you book a homestay immersion program, while you do not have the option to choose the host family, we strive to match you with the best possible one who is interested in welcoming you into their home for a cultural exchange.

Host families are not required to organize specific outings, but many enjoy including students in local events, celebrations, or family trips.

Nacel coordinators or our local partners carefully screen and select host families to ensure a safe, welcoming, and enriching experience for all students.

If challenges arise, Nacel’s coordinators or local representatives are ready to mediate and resolve issues. Open communication and mutual understanding are essential to overcoming concerns.

Students are expected to help with household chores, respect family rules, and actively engage in family activities to foster meaningful relationships.

Yes, but excessive use is discouraged. Students should prioritize family interaction and cultural experiences over screen time.
